Returning Families

Parents in Education (PIE)

The PIE Committee (Partners In Education) is in place to help with the coordinating of volunteers. Each year there will be one parent for each grade acting as the classroom representative. It will be that parent’s job to coordinate and help with field trips, class parties, teacher appreciation luncheons, family get-togethers to promote school community, art and music education, property beautification and other opportunities that may develop. A $25 per student fee is included in tuition to fund all PIE monetary obligations.

Volunteer

Families must contribute 20 hours of volunteer service to the school/parish throughout the course of the school year. There are many opportunities for such service. Families are responsible for tracking their hours through School Speak. New families will be given log in information for this program at the start of the school year.

Volunteer Opportunities

There are many opportunities to volunteer throughout the school year.

The PIE Committee (Partners In Education) is in place to help with the coordinating of volunteers for each classroom. Each year there will be one parent for each grade acting as the classroom representative. It will be that parent’s job to keep families aware of volunteer opportunities. School Speak email is the primary source for relaying such information.

Fund-Raising projects provide many opportunities for families to complete their required 20 hour volunteer service. The primary fundraising events are the Fall Book Fair, the Annual Wine Tasting, the St. Clare Raffle, Christmas Tree Sale, and the Are You Smarter than a Middle Schooler? game show.

Other volunteer opportunities include assisting with the hot lunch program, serving as field trip drivers, assisting teachers in the classroom, and assisting during our Christmas Pageant and Spring Concert. As volunteer opportunities arise, families will be notified through School Speak email.

Parents wishing to fulfill their volunteer hours through direct participation with students are required to complete Praesidium training http://website.praesidiuminc.com/ and complete a background check. Background check forms should be completed in the school office. This is at no cost to volunteers. Praesidium training will be offered twice yearly. Dates for training will be scheduled at the beginning of each school year.

Parents wishing to fulfill their volunteer hours as field trip drivers must complete a driver safety course. This is a 1 hour online course which must be completed 1 week prior to volunteering. Drivers must also provide a valid driver’s license and insurance 1 week prior to volunteering.

We invite you to get involved! Your help really does make a difference!
